Ingredients:
broiler chicken cut into medium sized pieces – 1 kg
To grind separately to a paste:
11/2 inch piece ginger
11/2 pod garlic
2 medium sized onions, ground to a paste
11/2 medium sized tomatoes, ground to a paste
poppy seeds – 1 tbs
cashewnuts and – 1 tbs
2 pieces coconut
Other ingredients:
oil – 4 tbs
Whole spices: 1 stick cinnamon.
2 cardamoms,
2 cloves.
cumin powder – 1 tsp
turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
chilli powder – 2 tsp
oil – 4 tbs
1/4 cup beaten curds
1/2 small lime
Method:
1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
2. Add whole spices, then ground onion paste and fry well for 3 minutes.
3. Add garlic ginger paste, fry for 2 minutes.
4. Add cumin powder, turmeric powder, chilli powder and fry well for 2 minutes.
5. Add groung tomatoes, fry for 2 minutes till soft.
6. Add the chicken pieces, 2 tsp. salt and 1 cup water. Cook in pressure cooker for 4 minutes.
7. Open the cooker, add paste of poppy, cashewnut and coconut.
8. Stir & allow gravy to simmer for 2 minutes.
9. Then add beaten curds and stir well.
10. Squeeze lime juice and test for salt. Let gravy simmer for 2 minutes.
Serve with rotis or rice.
