Ingredients:
broiler chicken, cut into medium sized pieces – 1 kg
oil – 3-4 tbs.
Masalas ground to a paste:
pepper corn – 11/2 tsp
turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
1 medium sized onion
1 inch piece ginger
1 pod garlic
1 small bunch coriander leaves
2 green chillies
A few leave of mint
garam masala powder – 1 tsp
salt – 2 tsp
1/3 cup water
lime – 1/2
Method:
1. Grind pepper corn, turmeric powder, onion, ginger, garlic, coriander leaves, green chillies and mint leaves together to a paste.
2. Heat 3 to 4 tbs. oil in a pressure cooker.
3. Add the ground masalas, keep stirring the masalas and fry well for about 3 minutes.
4. Add garam masala powder, fry well for 2 minutes.
5. Add raw chicken, salt and water and close the cooker. Cook for 4 minutes.
6. Open the cooker and let chicken simmer till the gravy thickens.
7. Add juice of half a lime, stir for 30 seconds and serve.
Goes well with rice and rotis.
