Butter Chicken

Ingredients:

pieces of chicken – 8
cooked in a tandoor, as per the recipe of tandoori chicken.
tomatoes – 1/2 kg
capsicum (optional) – 1
sugar – 2 tsp
butter – 4 tbsp
onion paste – 1/2 cup
ginger paste – 2 tsp
bay leaves – 2
chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
tomato ketcup, salt and pepper to taste – 2 tbsp
black cardamoms – 4
garam masala powder – 1 tsp

Method:
 Chop and boil the tomatoes with a pinch of salt. Blend in a mixie and strain to obtain puree. Cut the capsicum in juliennes.
 Heat the butter. Season with black cardamom and bay leaves. Put in the onion paste and fry till golden.
 Add the ginger paste and stir fry. Now, stir in the tomato puree, ketchup, salt, pepper, sugar and chilli powder. Add the chicken when it comes to a boil. Let cool on a medium fire till the gravy thickens and clings to the chicken. Sprinkle garam masala powder and remove. You may add 1/4 cup of cream or top of the milk just before removing if desired.
 Serve with naan, parathas or tandoori roti.
