According to the latest study, when you consume the vitamins and nutrients required for our body it will lower risk of early death but only when these nutrients come from natural food and not through supplements. In a study which had around 27,000 US adults of 20 years took part in a national health survey in the years 1999 and 2010. During which they were asked what they had in last 24 hours and were they taking any supplements in last 30 days.
Accordingly, they were tracked for 6 years. Around 3000 members have died during the study period out of which 945 died due to heart diseases and 805 died due to cancer. Through study they also found that those who had enough amounts of magnesium and vitamin K had very low death risk than those who were not getting the right amounts of nutrients.
People who consume the right amounts of vitamin K, A, Copper or zinc had reduced risk of death due to heart attacks than those who didn’t have enough levels of these vitamins. According to the researchers it’s only the vitamins and nutrients which people have got through food were able to lower the risks and not the supplements. On that if you consume more than 1,000 milligram of calcium each day it might increase the risk of cancer and can cause death.
From the study they have found that reduced risk of death is related to intake of adequate nutrients through food and excess amounts of supplements can actually be harmful to the body. The test which was conducted in the year 2011 showed that there was an increased risk in men for prostate cancer due to vitamin E supplements. During a study they also found that these supplements were responsible for increased death risk in older women over 20 year period of study.
